About This Service
The Wolf Villa household messaging service ("the Service") is a private, non-commercial SMS service operated by Brandon Wolf ("the operator") for the exclusive use of an allowlisted group of family members. The Service allows allowlisted users to query household network and home automation status, receive operational notifications about household systems, and update shared household information such as a family shopping list.
The Service is not open to the public. Access is granted by invitation only and is limited to immediate and extended family of the operator, typically 5 to 10 individuals.
How the Service Works
The Service operates on a request-response model:
- You send an SMS message to the Service phone number from a number that has been added to the allowlist.
- The Service processes your message and replies with relevant information, a status update, or a confirmation of an action taken on your behalf.
- The Service does not initiate outbound messages. Every message you receive from the Service is a direct reply to a message you sent.
Messages from numbers not on the allowlist receive no response.
Opt-In
To begin using the Service, a prospective user texts the keyword JOIN to the Service phone number from their own mobile phone. The Service responds with a confirmation message describing the Service, message frequency, opt-out instructions, and links to this Terms of Use page and the SMS Privacy Policy. The user's number is then added to the allowlist.
By texting JOIN, you confirm that:
- You are the owner or authorized user of the mobile number you are texting from
- You consent to receive SMS replies from the Service in response to your inbound messages
- You understand that message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan
- You have read and agree to these Terms of Use and the SMS Privacy Policy
Message Frequency
Message frequency is variable and entirely driven by your own activity. The Service only replies when you send it a message. Typical usage is 0 to 20 messages per user per week.
Costs
The Service does not charge any fees for use. Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan. Check with your carrier if you are unsure of your plan's SMS rates.
Supported Carriers
The Service supports major U.S. mobile carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and most regional carriers and MVNOs. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Help
To get help, reply HELP to any message from the Service, or INFO or SUPPORT. You will receive a brief reply with information about the Service and how to contact the operator.
Opting Out
You can opt out of the Service at any time by replying any of the following keywords to any message from the Service:
STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT
Opt-out is processed automatically by Twilio and takes effect immediately. After opting out, you will not receive any further messages from the Service. You will receive a single confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out, after which messaging stops.
You may also ask the operator directly to remove your number from the allowlist through any private channel.
If you opt out and later wish to rejoin, you may text START or JOIN from the same number.
Acceptable Use
By using the Service you agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or the underlying home server infrastructure
- Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm others
- Use the Service for any commercial purpose
- Attempt to impersonate another allowlisted user
- Send malicious content, including links to malware or phishing pages
The operator reserves the right to remove any user from the allowlist at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these terms.
Content of Messages
Outbound messages from the Service may include:
- Status information about household network and home automation systems
- Confirmations of actions you have requested (such as adding an item to the shared shopping list)
- Operational notifications about household systems (such as a service or device being unavailable)
- Embedded links to wolfvilla.com and its subdomains, which host internal household reference information
The Service does not send promotional, marketing, transactional, political, or unsolicited content.
Disclaimer
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis for personal household use. The operator makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the availability, accuracy, reliability, or timeliness of the Service. The Service may be unavailable from time to time due to maintenance, network issues, carrier delivery problems, or other factors outside the operator's control.
The Service should not be relied upon for emergency communications. In the event of an emergency, contact emergency services directly by dialing 911 (or your local emergency number).
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including but not limited to delayed or undelivered messages, lost data, or service interruptions.
Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by the SMS Privacy Policy, available at https://wolfvilla.com/sms-privacy.
Changes to These Terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to allowlisted users via the Service before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after a material change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
