SMS Privacy Policy
SMS Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 27, 2026 Last Updated: April 27, 2026
Overview
This privacy policy describes how the Wolf Villa household messaging service ("the Service") collects, uses, stores, and protects information from users who interact with the Service via SMS. The Service is operated privately by Brandon Wolf ("we," "us," "the operator") for the exclusive use of an allowlisted group of household members and family.
The Service is non-commercial. It exists to allow a small group of pre-approved family members to query household network and automation status from their personal mobile phones.
Information We Collect
When you interact with the Service, the following information is collected:
- Your mobile phone number in E.164 format (for example, +12695551234)
- The content of messages you send to the Service phone number
- Timestamps of inbound and outbound messages
- Delivery status metadata provided by Twilio, the SMS infrastructure provider
We do not collect your name, address, email, location, contacts, device identifiers, or any other personal information through the Service. Any identifying information beyond your phone number is known to the operator only because you are a family member, not because the Service collected it.
How We Use Your Information
Your phone number and message content are used solely to:
- Determine whether your number is on the Service allowlist
- Process the content of your inbound message and generate an appropriate response
- Send the response back to your number
- Maintain operational logs for troubleshooting and abuse prevention
We do not use your information for marketing, advertising, profiling, analytics, or any commercial purpose. The Service does not run advertising and has no commercial revenue model.
How We Store Your Information
- Phone numbers of allowlisted users are stored in a configuration file on a private home server. The file is accessible only to the operator.
- Message content and metadata are retained by Twilio according to Twilio's standard retention policies, and may also be retained in operational logs on the home server for up to 90 days for troubleshooting purposes, after which they are automatically purged.
- Opt-in records (the date a number was added to the allowlist) are kept indefinitely or until the user opts out.
All storage is on infrastructure controlled by the operator or by Twilio. No data is sent to third-party analytics, advertising, or data broker services.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, lease, trade, or otherwise share your phone number or message content with any third party for any purpose.
The only third party that processes your information is Twilio Inc., which provides the underlying SMS infrastructure that delivers messages between your carrier and the Service. Twilio's handling of your information is governed by Twilio's own privacy policy, available at https://www.twilio.com/legal/privacy.
We will not share your information with advertisers, marketers, data brokers, social networks, or any other commercial entity. We will only disclose information if required to do so by valid legal process (such as a court order or subpoena), and only to the extent legally required.
Your Choices and Rights
You have the following rights with respect to your information:
- Opt out at any time by replying
STOPto any message from the Service. This is processed automatically by Twilio and immediately blocks all further messaging between your number and the Service. You can also ask the operator directly to remove your number from the allowlist. - Request deletion of your phone number and any associated logs by contacting the operator directly. Deletion will be completed within 30 days.
- Request access to any information the Service holds about you by contacting the operator directly.
Opting out does not require any reason or justification.
Message Frequency and Costs
Message frequency is variable and entirely user-driven. The Service only sends messages in direct response to messages you send to it. Typical usage is 0 to 20 messages per user per week.
Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan. The Service itself does not charge any fees.
Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for use by family members of the operator. Minors who use the Service do so with the knowledge and consent of their parent or guardian (the operator or their spouse). The Service does not knowingly collect information from any child outside this household context. The Service does not deliver age-gated content.
Security
The home server infrastructure is protected by standard network security practices including firewall segmentation, encrypted storage, and access controls. Messages in transit between your carrier and the Service are protected by Twilio's infrastructure. However, SMS as a protocol is not end-to-end encrypted, and you should not send highly sensitive information (such as passwords, financial account numbers, or medical details) via SMS to this Service or any other.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to allowlisted users via the Service before they take effect.
Contact
For any questions, requests, or concerns regarding this policy or your information, contact the operator directly through the private channel by which you were added to the Service, or by replying HELP to any message from the Service.
